Hi! Thanks for visiting. I’m Andrea.
As I’m sure you can tell by the title, I’m a recovering alcoholic. My sobriety date is September 20, 2011.
I grew up in Portland, Oregon, where I was the only Catholic kid in my large public schools. Or at least, I was the only Catholic kid who admitted it. Trust me, it was kind of strange. But, it’s not like I could hide it, I was the 5th of 6 kids. People noticed us. (Okay, I just made my family seem like we were Amish.)
I left the west coast for the great state of Texas. I lived and went to school in Dallas, Texas for seven years. I was blessed with a great education and amazing friends. Sadly, on the other hand, when I left I was already and alcoholic, it would just take me another 3 years to figure that out.
Now, I live in Silver Spring, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC. I hope my next move is to the the Mountain Time Zone, just so I’ll have lived in all four time zones of the contiguous United States. (Montana maybe, Colorado probably, but no way it’s Arizona or New Mexico.)
So, I don’t drink, which used to be my main activity. What do I do now? I’m in my forth year of teaching, which takes up pretty much any spare second of my life. That, and sleeping. I’m still trying to figure out exactly what to do with myself, and writing is part of it.
I hope you enjoy my adventures. Or at least don’t get too depressed by them.
